DNA Fingerprint Database
Following the revolutionary discovery of DNA fingerprinting, the British government developed a national database to track convicted criminals DNA profiles. The British have gathered profiles of more than 500,000 criminals. Since the database was developed it has been used to check more than 70,000 criminal suspects. However, the U.S. is slower to make use of DNA testing and tracking. The FBI is developing a database called CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) to track its on criminal DNA.
