DNA Collection Process
DNA fingerprinting allows a human profile to be put together using only a very small amount of DNA. In order to be analyzed DNA must be collected. DNA is found throughout the human body. It is contained in skin cells, tissue, organs, muscle, brain cells, bone, saliva, mucus, perspiration, and urine. The easiest collection method is a blood sample. But investigators and forensic scientists can extract DNA from a single hair or even a fingernail.
